Host Software Beginner's Guide

Preparation Before System Flashing

• Card reader
• One TF card with a capacity of no less than 16GB or no more than 128GB, the transfer speed of the TF card must be Class 10 or above
• Download the corresponding system image
• Download the required flashing tool

Flashing the TF card and flashing to M2WE through the TF card only need to use one of the methods

• If the machine has M2WE and a memory card installed, the system defaults to booting from the memory card
• M2WE is recommended to flash the system using a TF card, as flashing via USB to M2WE might fail due to driver compatibility issues, it is recommended to directly use Memory Card Flashing to M2WE
• Please note whether the downloaded system image matches, otherwise, it will not boot

Flash to TF Card

System Image Writing to TF Card

Preparation

• First, install the software Win32DiskImager
• Extract the system; the file name after extraction should end with .img
• Insert the TF card into a card reader and plug the card reader into a USB port on your computer
• If the TF card has data, please back it up. After writing the system, it is not recommended to remove the system card unless you need to write it to an M2WE and then can remove the TF card

Formatting the Memory Card

• Use the TFFormatter.exe software to format the TF card
• Select the disk you want to format

• Alternatively, use the built-in disk management in Windows to delete the partition. After deleting the partition, create a new partition.

Writing to the TF Card

Test

• Red selects the file to be burned
• Orange selects the TF card to be burned
• Blue will burn the system into the TF card

• Confirm burning and wait for the burning to complete

• Burning completed

Flash to M2WE via TF Card

Flashing M2WE via TF Card

System migration can fully migrate the image originally on the TF card to the M2WE, after which the contents in M2WE will be consistent with those on the original TF card.

• Install and power on M2WE
• Please first connect to SSH using serial port Click here to jump to the connection guide
• Execute the following command; you may be prompted to enter a password. Enter the password mellow and press Enter (please note that the password is invisible)

sudo nand-sata-install

• Select the Boot from eMMC - system on eMMC option and press Enter (usually the default option is selected, so just press Enter)

• When prompted with This script will erase your eMMC. Continue?, select Yes and press Enter (usually the default option is selected, so just press Enter)

• Choose the file system type as ext4 and press Enter (usually the default option is selected, so just press Enter)

• Wait patiently until the progress bar appears (if no progress bar appears within 2 minutes, please press CTRL+C to terminate the operation, then restart the device and try again)

• Do not disconnect power or perform any other operations during the system migration process until it is complete
• After the migration is complete, press Enter to wait for the device to fully shut down

• Power off, remove the TF card, and power on again. At this point, the system can boot from the eMMC.

Flash to M2WE via USB

Prepare USB to Burn to M2WE

Preparation Work

• First, install the software Win32DiskImager
• Extract the system, the file name suffix after extraction should be .img
• Download M2WE BOOT driver

Install Driver

• Open the Zadig software
• Except for the first Zadig, which does not need to be installed and can be run directly, the other two need to be installed. Just click Next or Next during the installation process.
• Open Zadig, check List All Devices in the top menu bar Options

Ensure that the device is connected to the computer while the button is pressed

• After installing M2WE, press the BOOT key and connect the dual-head USB to the computer

• Open Zadig

• If everything is normal, a new Unknown Device #x or USB Device(VID_1f3a_PID_efe8) will appear in Zadig. Select it.

• After selecting the device, check if the USB ID matches the image above. If not, please select another device.
• The second selection in the image above should only choose WinUSB(vxxxxxxx), the version number doesn't matter.
• Click Install Driver to install the driver.

• USB driver installation is successful (the driver needs to be installed only once; if you burn again in the future, you don't need to install the driver again).
• Open the installed FLY-BOOT and click Check Device.
• If all the steps are done correctly, it will prompt that an available device is found.
• Click Start BOOT, if everything goes well, it will prompt that BOOT has been successfully enabled.

Format M2WE

• Use the TFFormatter.exe software to format the BOOT disk

• Or use the built-in disk management of Windows to delete the partition, then create a new partition after deleting.
• Now you can open File Explorer, and you will see a 14.5GB USB drive (16GB eMMC shows as 14.5GB).
• You can now use Win32diskimager to burn the system image, select the drive letter of this 14.5GB USB drive.

Burn to M2WE

Test

• Red selects the file to be burned
• Orange selects the TF card to be burned
• Blue will burn the system into the TF card

• Confirm burning and wait for the burning to complete

• Burning completed

Flash to M2WE or TF Card via M2SD Burner

Installing M2WE or SD Card on M2WE

Warning

• This product supports USB3.0
• This product does not support using TF card and M2WE simultaneously
• After installing M2WE or SD card and connecting to the computer's USB port, you can format it
• Do not install NVMe or other devices, otherwise it may cause device damage!!!!

• Extract the system files, the extracted file will have a .img suffix
• Insert the TF card into the reader and plug the reader into the computer's USB port
• If the TF card has data, please back it up. The system card is not recommended to be removed after flashing, unless you need to remove the TF card after burning it to M2WE

System Configuration

FLYOS_Env Usage

Tip

• Starting from system version 3.3.4, you can directly use FLY-TOOLS for system configuration without entering the boot to modify configurations.
• Please note that older systems do not support direct configuration using FLY-TOOLS.

WIFI Configuration Instructions

Notice

• The WIFI configuration method is complex and requires connecting to an upper-level machine via a serial port and then proceeding with the WIFI connection.

• Gemini V3 needs to enter the FLY TOOLS settings interface to configure the mainboard model, otherwise, the firmware cannot start normally

• After flashing the system to the TF card, it needs to be connected to Gemini here, otherwise, the system will not start
